Wireless Access Point for Business

Monitor and record your facility 24/7 with the most efficient technological solution available

A Wireless Access Point for business (also known as APs or WAPs) is a networking device that allows Wi-Fi devices to connect to a wired network. It serves as a central transmitter as well as the receiver for the wireless radio signals. The traditional wireless AP supports Wi-Fi and can be used in the home environment to support a public internet hotspot.

A wireless AP is used by business networks to accommodate a wide range of wireless devices in use, or it can be integrated into a stand-alone or wired router. The stand-alone network point is usually connected to the router using a wire to provide access to the network through radio frequency links, which in turn enable other devices to access the wired connection.

Settings like offices, businesses, and education centers where multiple devices are used to access the internet require wireless access points to maintain an efficient connection. Business class wireless access points can handle at least 60 simultaneous connections. This enables users to move freely within the facility without network interruptions, giving you the liberty to scale the number of devices supported through your network. BCS Consultants has the technical solutions to get your team members on the same page while you control all business environments with custom made wireless access points for your business.

There are many benefits to a wireless access point in your business:

  • Install business-grade access points anywhere you can have an Ethernet cable.
  • AP models are compatible with Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+), so you do not have to install an outlet near the access point or run an additional power line.
  • Additional AP features include Captive Portal and Access Control List (ACL) support.
  • Regulate guest access to your network without compromising on the security of your network.
  • Easy for you to manage users within a Wi-Fi network.
  • Specific wireless AP designs can be developed for outdoors as well.

Wireless Access Point Types

Single radio vs. Dual radio access points

Single radio wireless access points work in either IEEE 802.11a or b/g. Dual radio wireless access points, as the name indicates, come with two radios. One radio works in IEEE802.11a while the other works simultaneously in IEEE 802.11 b/g/n or 802.11b/g. Dual radio wireless access points are an ideal mesh networking solution for your business where you need direct and efficient data sharing.

Internal and External antenna APs

Most modern access points are manufactured with in-built antennas. These APs provide good coverage for contained spaces and a limited number of users. For larger areas, we can provide external antenna access points for situations where the number of users is small yet the area of coverage is large. In these cases, it is better to invest in access points with external antenna for higher gain and better signal strength. The bandwidth supported in both cases is standard.

Wi-Fi technology has advanced greatly over the years. However, it is never a one-size-fits-all when it comes to businesses. A large office space with heavy traffic requires wireless access points. We at BCS have the tools and the technical process to apply the correct wireless solutions your business needs through a custom wireless AP setup.
