The Mixed Reality (MR) landscape is evolving, redefining how we interact in the digital world. To keep pace with these advancements, Logitech, in collaboration with Meta, is introducing the MX Ink, the first MR stylus for Meta Quest. The MX Ink stylus is designed to enhance precision and familiarity in MR environments, empowering users to create, annotate, and navigate with high precision.
A Seamless Transition from 2D to 3D
Logitech MX Ink offers a pen-like feel with a pressure-sensitive tip, providing a seamless transition from 2D to 3D spaces. This feature is particularly beneficial for applications such as Painting VR, Adobe Substance 3D Modeler, and surgery planning with Elucis. The stylus allows for natural writing and sketching on various physical surfaces, making it ideal for creative and professional applications.
Collaboration and Innovation
"For over four decades, Logitech has shown the way with software-enabled, hardware solutions crafted to provide people the freedom and precise control they need to express themselves, connecting them to the digital world," said Vadim Kogan, Head of AR/VR at Logitech. "The new Logitech MX Ink is a stylus that seamlessly transitions from 2D to 3D spaces, offering the familiarity of a 2D stylus with the tracking accuracy expected by Meta Quest users in MR."
The MX Ink stylus supports more than two paired controllers at once, marking a significant milestone for Meta Quest headsets. This feature allows users to switch between Meta Quest controllers and MX Ink without disrupting their workflow, enhancing productivity and efficiency.
Broad Compatibility and Enhanced Functionality
MX Ink pairs effortlessly through the Meta Quest app and is compatible with Meta Quest 3 and Quest 2. "MX Ink offers a first-of-its-kind input device for the Meta Quest ecosystem," said Furhan Zafar, VP of Sustaining Product Operations & Accessories at Meta. "We believe the Meta customers will benefit from having such a complementary tool that will be supported by many applications and users alike."
The stylus is supported by various applications, including Painting VR, ENGAGE XR, OpenBrush, and Arkio, among others. It brings critical precision to 3D sketching, design, and modeling software such as Gravity Sketch and Adobe Substance 3D Modeler. In addition, MX Ink enhances surgery planning using Elucis by Realize Medical.
Additional Accessories for Enhanced Experience
For an even smoother writing and drawing experience, MX Ink can be paired with MX Mat, a friction-free writing and drawing environment. The MX Ink Well, a charging base inspired by traditional pen stands, ensures that the stylus is always ready for use.
Availability and Developer Integration
MX Ink, MX Ink + MX Inkwell Combo, and MX Mat will be available later this year through Logitech's website, Meta's website, and Amazon. Developers interested in integrating MX Ink with their applications can apply for a developer kit or visit the GitHub page for more information on developer integration.
Logitech continues to push the boundaries of MR technology with the MX Ink, offering a familiar, precise tool for both creative and professional use. This innovation bridges the gap between traditional tools and the immersive digital world, enhancing the way we interact with MR environments.
